My name is Aspen Kupper (they/he). I am a queer, disabled, neurodivergent therapist in Burlington, Vermont. I have been working in the mental health field for 3 years and am working toward licensure. I am trained in basic EMDR and CAMS (Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality) and integrate parts work, narrative therapy, and liberation psychology into my approach.

My style is fairly casual, infusing humor and warmth with observations and curiosity. I use self-disclosure when it feels helpful and appropriate. I love using special interests and media as a doorway to therapeutic exploration.

I believe that addressing the larger systemic and cultural contributors to our experiences is vital. Not only does this mean I name these impacts in session (i.e., the impact of capitalism on our perception of ‘productivity’), I also strive to help participants navigate these systems when possible. I also believe that relationships and community are integral for healing and a fulfilling life, and often encourage participants to find ways to get involved in their community.

I moved to Vermont from Florida to attend UVM’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. In my personal life, I enjoy reading, gardening, and music. I’m a big fan of fantasy and sci-fi, punk and pop punk music, and musical theater. (If it isn’t obvious, I’m a big nerd.) I don’t have any pets of my own but love hanging out with other people’s pets! While not clinically trained, I have lived experience with chronic illness and chronic pain including hEDS and associated conditions.
